The New Day vs Sheamus and King Barrett
Roadblock started off with the tag team championship on the line. The League of Nations double teamed Kofi. Later King Barrett hammered away at Kingston with punches. The power balance shifted and The New Day got revenge with a unicorn stampede. Big E delivered a belly to belly to Barrett and finished off the punishment with a 300 pound big splash. Langston won the contest with the Big Ending and The New Day remained tag team champions.
Chris Jericho vs Jack Swagger
Jericho took a breather early on in the match and a chase ensued around the ring. Swagger knocked Chris down back in the ring. Y2J countered a Swagger Bomb and missed an opportunity with the Lionsault. Swagger finally connected with the Swagger Bomb and performed a Patriot Lock. Chris wasn’t able to deliver the Codebreaker but made up for it with with the Walls of Jericho and won via submission.
Colin Cassady and Enzo Amore with Carmella vs The Revival
The NXT tag team championship was also on the line, defended by The Revival. Cass and Enzo seemed to dominate the match. Enzo delivered a hurricanrana to Dash then Cass launched Amore into The Revival. Dawson even antagonized Carmella. She slapped him in turn. Despite being overpowered for much of the match, Wilder isolated Enzo and got the match-winning pin to remain NXT tag team champions with Dawson.
Charlotte with Ric Flair vs Natalya
Natalya coerced Charlotte to place her title on the line by calling the Flair family cowards. The Queen of Harts dedicated the match to her uncle, Bret Hart, who is recovering from prostate cancer surgery. The match between the two ladies was even. Charlotte proved to be a master of submissions with the Half Crab, Figure-Four, and a Figure-Eight with bridge. Nattie also impressed with her moves, the Surfboard Stretch and the Sharpshooter, which was dedicated to Bret. Natalya connected with a spinning discus clothesline and powerbombed Charlotte. However, the challenger also took a tremendous beating from the reigning Divas Champ. The Nature Girl applied a Natural Selection and suplexed Nattie. At the end, Ric Flair proved to be the deciding factor of the match. His interference caused The Queen of Harts to punch The Nature Boy and allowed Charlotte to get the pin and keep her belt.
Bray Wyatt and Luke Harper vs Brock Lesnar with Paul Heyman
The contest was billed as two vs one but Bray didn’t take part in the fight at all. Wyatt made no attempt to assist Luke. Brock didn’t waste any time and took Harper to Suplex City multiple times. Harper hung in the match for a limited time with masterful super kicks and his vintage Discus Clothesline. These weren’t enough as The Beast still won with his signature F5.
Sami Zayn vs Stardust
Zayn enforced many technical skills with multiple arm drags and an armbar. Stardust applied a reverse cross leg submission and connected with a superplex. The Cosmic Prince slapped Sami with his glove and Zayn responded with a clothesline. The Canadian native delivered a thunderbomb and got the victory with the Helluvah Kick.
Triple H vs Dean Ambrose
For the main event, Ambrose hoped to dethrone The Game and become the new WWE World Heavyweight Champion. Ambrose controlled the match and seemed to have a plan. He targeted the back of The Game’s knees and quads. Triple H was able to recover and performed a spinebuster and went for the pin but Dean kicked out.
The two men were equally matched and each fought out of their opponents finishing moves. When Triple H pushed for the Pedigree again, The Lunatic Fringe knocked him over the top rope. Ambrose attempted to dive through the ropes but The Game punched him. Fed up with the damage done to his knees, Triple H destroyed the announce table. Dean’s master plan came full circle when he applied a Figure-Four to Hunter. Triple H punched his way out but found himself in another submission, the Sharpshooter.
Controversy ensued when Dean pinned The Game with a three count, but the ref reversed the win when he noticed Ambrose’s feet were under the ropes. Later, The Lunatic mocked DX’s famous taunt, “suck it.” Outside of the ring, Dean attempted a flying elbow off the barricade but Triple H rolled out of the way, resulting in Ambrose crashing through the announce table. After a close count out, Dean ran back into the ring but was ambushed with a Pedigree. The Cerebral Assassin kept his title and will face Roman Reigns at WrestleMania.
